GREENOCK MAN CAUGHT WITH HUNDREDS OF INDECENT IMAGES AND EVIDENCE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
A sheriff has permitted Robert Hare to remain free on bail after police discovered a shocking collection of indecent images of a woman that he had taken secretly at a property in Greenock, which included evidence of her being sexually assaulted.Hare, aged 31, pleaded guilty to four charges related to offences committed over five years in Inverclyde, including two counts of sexual assault.
When police visited Hare's address after a tip-off about indecent images of children downloaded from the internet, they seized multiple devices, including mobile phones.
On these devices, officers found over 400 still images and 250 videos of a woman captured without her consent, some containing evidence of sexual assaults.
Additionally, 180 still images and 80 videos of child sexual exploitation were recovered.
Hare admitted to possessing indecent images of children and operating equipment to observe the woman privately, even while she was asleep or not consenting.
The court was told Hare also owned a Google phone, which he unlocked for police, and a hidden GoPro camera that was used to record the woman discreetly.
His actions have had a substantial impact on the victim, as noted in a statement read to the court.
Sheriff Fraser postponed Hare’s sentencing until next month for a social work report, emphasizing that this decision should not be viewed as an indication of his future punishment.
Hare, from Houston, is scheduled to return to court on September 9.
