ROBERT HAMPTON SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN WORCESTERSHIRE
A man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving a young boy in Worcestershire.Robert Hampton, aged 77 and residing at Somers Court in Upper Howsell Road, Malvern, was convicted on seven separate counts related to the sexual abuse and assault of a minor.
His charges included one count of raping a boy under the age of 13, as well as two counts of inciting or causing a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity involving penetration.
Additionally, Hampton faced a charge of attempted rape of a child under 13, along with three counts of assaulting a boy under 13 by penetration with a part of his body or an object.
These crimes spanned a period from January 2007 to December 2018, highlighting a prolonged pattern of abuse.
Following the verdict, Worcester Crown Court handed down a sentence of 18 years in prison to Hampton, with an additional year on license, reflecting the severity of his offenses.
The court's decision underscores the gravity of the crimes committed and the danger posed by Hampton to the community.
Detective Constable Hannah Croft expressed her commendation for the victim and their family, emphasizing their bravery in coming forward.
She stated, “I would like to commend the bravery of the victim and their family in this case.
Without their courage, perseverance and tenacity, Hampton would not have been brought to justice.” She further added, “Hampton is a dangerous individual and I’m glad his sentence reflects the heinous crimes he committed.
I hope if anything positive is to come out of today is that it gives other victims the confidence to come forward and speak with the police.”
