ROBERT FINDLAY SENTENCED IN FIFE FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES
On Friday, November 25, 2022, the High Court in Lanark delivered a conviction for Robert Findlay, a man accused of multiple serious offences, including rape and sexual assault, committed within the Fife area over a span of six years from 2014 to 2020.The case was the result of a thorough police investigation that uncovered disturbing details about Findlay's actions.
Detective Sergeant Graeme McLaren of Police Scotland issued a statement emphasizing the gravity of the crimes and the importance of justice.
He stated, “Robert Findlay took advantage of his victim over a number of years and he will now face the consequences of his despicable actions in prison.” The detective highlighted the bravery of the victim, who came forward despite the trauma involved, and who provided crucial evidence that contributed to the conviction.
Sergeant McLaren expressed his support for victims of sexual crimes, reaffirming Police Scotland’s commitment to pursuing justice regardless of how much time has elapsed since the offences.
He added, “His victim was incredibly brave to come forward and report Findlay, then give evidence in court.
Our thoughts remain with her and I hope that today’s sentencing will give her some comfort and help her move forward.” The police official also urged others who may have experienced similar crimes to come forward and report them, assuring the public that victims will receive full support from law enforcement and partner agencies.
