ROBERT ENGLAND CAUGHT WITH HUNDREDS OF CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN CRAWLEY
In August 2019, authorities uncovered a disturbing case involving Robert England, a man from Crawley, who was found to possess an alarming collection of indecent images of children.The police raid on his residence revealed that England, aged 51, had downloaded a total of 533 such images from the internet, including 144 classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe level of indecency.
During the investigation, officers traced an email address linked to the upload of a Category C image, prompting a detailed inquiry.
The police executed a search warrant based on the intelligence gathered, which led to the seizure of a mobile device from England’s home.
Subsequently, a second device was recovered a few days later, both of which contained the illicit images.
It was established that all the images had been downloaded from online sources, and there was no evidence to suggest that the images depicted local children.
The case was brought before Lewes Crown Court, where England pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images.
Prosecutor Rio Pahlavanpour outlined the case, emphasizing that the investigation was initiated after police linked the email activity to the upload of a Category C image.
The court heard that the images spanned various categories, with a significant number falling into the most serious classification, Category A.
Judge Anne Arnold sentenced England to ten months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for two years.
As part of his rehabilitation, England is required to attend specific programs, including sex offender treatment courses, and to complete 100 hours of unpaid community service.
The court also ordered that he participate in rehabilitation days to address his offending behavior.
The charges against England included making and possessing indecent photographs of children, with counts covering all three categories—A, B, and C—as well as possessing extreme pornographic images and prohibited images of children.
Additionally, he was found guilty of distributing a Category C indecent photograph of a child.
Following the court proceedings, England’s circumstances worsened as he lost his previous accommodation due to the offences.
It is reported that he is now living in a tent near Gatwick Airport, highlighting the social consequences of his actions and the serious nature of the case.
