ROBERT DRUMMOND FROM KELTY SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGE OFFENSES IN DUNFERMLINE
A resident of Kelty, Robert Drummond, aged 37, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in the possession and downloading of indecent images of children. The case was heard at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where Drummond appeared to face justice following a jury trial held in December. The court found him guilty of two serious charges related to the possession and distribution of such illicit material.Specifically, the charges covered the period from February 18, 2014, to December 4, 2020. During this time, Drummond was found to have in his possession numerous indecent photographs of children. Furthermore, he was accused of actively downloading additional indecent images of minors during the same timeframe. Some of these images were classified under Category ‘A’, indicating the most graphic and disturbing content available in the classification system for such material.
The trial revealed that Drummond attempted to shift blame onto his brother, Ryan Drummond, also of Kelty, who had been convicted of similar offenses the previous year. During the proceedings, Robert claimed that Ryan was responsible for the images found on his devices. This was not the first time Ryan had been implicated; he had previously been caught with indecent images and had pointed the finger at Robert. However, Ryan Drummond, of Drum Road, Kelty, later admitted his guilt in January of the previous year.
After considering the evidence, Sheriff Charles Macnair sentenced Robert Drummond to two and a half years in prison. The court’s decision underscores the severity of the offenses and the ongoing efforts to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images. The case highlights the continued vigilance required to address such heinous crimes within communities like Kelty and beyond.
