GREENOCK DOMESTIC ABUSER IN COURT AGAIN AFTER ABUSIVE CALL
A GREENOCK man who was previously jailed for domestic abuse was blasted by a sheriff for 'not learning lessons' after he admitted shouting and swearing at his ex-partner.
Robert Campbell, 33, appeared in court last week accused of phoning his former partner while she was driving with children in the car, then repeatedly shouting, swearing, and uttering threats of violence.
He pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Greenock Sheriff Court.
The incident happened on September 9 last year in the Burns Road area of Greenock.
Campbell's recent court appearance came five years after he was sent to prison for his eighth conviction back in March 2020.
At that time, Sheriff Joseph Hughes noted Campbell's significant domestic convictions dating back to 2015, including six with community payback orders and one with a restriction of liberty order.
Last week, Sheriff James Varney criticized Campbell for not learning lessons and told him he should not be speaking to his ex-partner at all.
A restriction of liberty order was imposed, requiring him to stay within his home from 6.30 pm to 5.30 am for 18 weeks, along with a non-harassment order barring contact for 21 months.
