FORMER OFFICER CONVICTED OF MAKING INDECENT CONTENT OF CHILDREN
A 27-year-old man from Risby, previously employed as a police officer with Suffolk Constabulary, has been found guilty of a charge related to the possession of indecent images of children.Robert Askew, residing on Quay’s Road in Risby, admitted to one count of creating a category C film involving children during a hearing at Norwich Magistrates Court on May 27.
His sentencing has been scheduled for Monday, July 13.
Askew was taken into custody on August 13, 2024, after authorities received reports concerning the online upload of illegal material.
Police executed a search warrant at his residence in Stowmarket, during which digital devices were recovered and subsequently analyzed by specialized forensic experts.
Following his arrest, Askew was interviewed by officers and later formally charged.
He was suspended from duty immediately after the allegations were brought to light and reported to the police’s Professional Standards Department (PSD).
