VILE PRISONER RAPED INMATE
Warning: This profile contains details that may be upsetting to some readers.A violent offender known for his dangerous behaviour has been sentenced to over ten years behind bars for raping an inmate just days following a severe assault.
Robbie Deacon, 34 years old and currently without a permanent address, assaulted a fellow inmate in Guys' Marsh Prison on November 10, 2021.
The attack involved forcing the inmate to perform oral sex and physically assaulting him when he protested.
Deacon's absence from the courtroom during sentencing was noted, but he was found guilty of two counts of rape during proceedings at Bournemouth Crown Court on June 10.
The court sentenced him to a term of 11 years.
It was established that Deacon, under the influence of drugs, had gone to use the bathroom and then returned to his cell unclothed, which was part of the incident's context.
He then told the victim, "put that in your mouth," and asked him to perform a sexual act.
Deacon told his victim to "call me a dirty b******" while he raped him, the court heard.
In a victim impact statement read by the prosecutor Christopher Pix, the victim said: "When he said stop, he was assaulted more." Following the rape, Deacon grabbed the victim by the throat and told him, "don't you tell no one about it," before punching him in the kidney.
The victim said he has lived in fear for his life following the attack and wished he had "fought back" during the rape.
However, he said, "this could have resulted in me getting hurt even more." Since the rape, the victim said he feels "worthless," has lived in "constant fear," and suffered threats from other inmates who accused him of being a "grass." Sentencing, Judge Maylin said: "He is a dangerous bully." Mitigating, Nate Lara argued that there was "limited evidence" to suggest Deacon was a risk of recommitting a further sexual offence in prison rather than in public.
Deacon was further guilty of actual bodily harm after he assaulted the victim two days prior to the rape, breaking his nose.
The victim said of the impact the rape has had on him: “It’s a life sentence you can’t get away from or put behind you.” Speaking to the victim, Judge Maylin said: "I hope this sentencing hearing has brought some degree of closure to you with what I know has been a very long process." "I can only apologise to [the victim] that he has had to wait so long for trial." The 34-year-old prisoner was handed an 11-year custodial sentence and an extended licence of five years for the rape and a 36-month sentence to run concurrently for the ABH.
