Ritchie Plumb

Minety Sexual Abuser

February 2019 ‘Child sex doll’ pervert Ritchie Plumb’s community work axed A pervert who tried to import what police believed was a child sex doll has been told he doesn’t have to do the unpaid work he was sentenced to. Former primary school volunteer Ritchie Plumb was told to do 200 hours of community payback for having a collection of films and pictures of child abuse. But his case has come back before a judge who has scrapped the order and instead told him he must abide by a night time curfew. And he even extended it to the driveway at the unemployed 37-year-old’s home so that he can defrost the car for his wife, who is standing by him. Plumb, of Derry Park, Minety, will also have to go on a Horizon sex offenders programme as part of the community order. The court heard that at the time he was also helping out at a local Brownie Group in his village Judge Robert Pawson told him he would replace the unpaid work with a tagged three month curfew from 7pm to 7am. Plumb had bought what police believed was a child sex doll from an online retailer which was intercepted by the authorities in December 2017. Although it was later deemed not illegal to own as it, and the charge relating to it was dropped, officers investigating the case had also seized his computers. As well as finding numerous indecent images of children they also uncovered Facebook and other conversations about his paedophilia. Despite Plumb having told a probation officer he wanted to keep the doll he was persuaded to hand it over so it can be destroyed. The court heard that although the doll was small prosecutors accepted it depicted an adult, not a child, though they were concerned ‘It almost certainly was intended to be representative of a child’. Officers found hundreds of images stored on the machine, many stored in files for quick access, with some at the worse level showing children being raped Plumb’s images were of girls age 5-11 Chat on Facebook and other media showed him being warned by others about talking about his interest, especially if he was seeking to go through the adoption process. Plumb pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing prohibited images of children. He was put on a two year community order with 40 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and 200 hours of unpaid work. Plumb was also put on a sexual harm prevention order for five years and also told to register as a sex offender for that period September 2018 Minety ‘Child sex doll’ offender sentenced for indecent images A married man from Minety who tried to import what police believed was a child sex doll has agreed to allow it to be destroyed despite it not being deemed illegal. Additionally Ritchie Plumb, Derry Park, Minety was given a community order and told to register as a sex offender when he was sentenced for downloading 2000 indecent images of children at Swindon crown court today. Plumb bought the ‘child sex doll’ last December and after it was intercepted by the authorities, police went to his home and scoured his computers. As well as finding numerous indecent images of children they also uncovered Facebook messages and other conversations about his paedophilia. After ruling he should sentence based on the hoard of images in the lowest category a judge at Swindon Crown Court put him on a community order. And despite the 37-year-old having told probation he wanted to keep the doll he was persuaded to hand it over so it can be destroyed. Rob Welling, prosecuting, said “He drew attention to himself because the police received information he had tried, as far as they were concerned, to import a child sex doll. He was originally charged with that offence. I have seen the advice, it indicates that although it is a small doll it is a doll to depict an adult, not a child, so it was not deemed to be obscene. “It almost certainly was intended to be representative of a child. We can see from the defendant’s computer log he had a interest in children, female children.” Mr Welling said that they found hundreds of images stored on the machine, many stored in files for quick access. He said there were four in the worst category, 11 in the middle and 1,963 in band C, the least serious, as well as 11 pseudo images of children. The Minety man pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing prohibited images of children. After the judge warned it would be in his favour to agree, despite telling probation he wanted to keep it, he agreed to sign it away. Passing sentence Judge Jason Taylor QC said “As far as the guidelines for this type of offending are concerned, ordinarily a judge would approach the case with reference to the most serious images. “To do this in this case would be unrepresentative of this case as your interest is overwhelmingly tilted towards class C images.” He imposed a two year community order with 40 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and 200 hours of unpaid work. Plumb was also put on a sexual harm prevention order for five years and also told to register as a sex offender for that period. August 2018 Minety man to sign sex offenders register A man accused of importing an illegal child sex doll has been made to sign the sex offenders register after pleading guilty to downloading hundreds of indecent images of children. Ritchie Plumb, 37, of Derry Park, Minety pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing prohibited images of children at Swindon Crown Court. Between February 16, 2014 and December 12, 2017, he made four images in category A, the worst bracket, 14 in category B, and 1,963 in category c. Plumb also had 11 prohibited images of children, which usually refer to cartoons or drawings, on December 12. The allegation that he imported an illegal child sex doll was dropped by prosecutors after further analysis of the item. It is believed that although it was child-sized, the doll was of an adult and therefore not illegal to either possess or to import into the country. Recorder Michael Vere-Hodge QC adjourned the case to Friday, September 14 and released Plumb on bail. He said: “You have pleaded guilty to four counts on the indictment. I will put the case back for a full report on you. “You must come back on September 14 when you will be sentenced not by me but by another judge. “I am going to release you on the same bail as before but you should not take that as an indication of how you will be sentenced because these are serious offences and I have asked for the report to cover all options and it is no indication of how you are going to be sentenced by another judge.” He was told he must register as a sex offender with the total period he must do so to be determined by the sentence to be imposed. Plumb was released on bail on a number of conditions including restrictions on his contact with children.
