RICKY TOWSON SENTENCED IN LEICESTER FOR DECADES OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Leicester, a man named Ricky Towson has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young boy during the 1980s.The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years, beginning when the victim was just four years old and continuing until he was 12.
Ricky Towson, now aged 51 and residing on Oxford Street in Leicester city centre, faced a jury that found him guilty of 11 counts related to the sexual abuse of the young boy.
The charges included nine counts of indecent assault on a child under 13 and two counts of indecency with a child under 13.
Despite his denial of the allegations, the evidence presented in court was compelling enough to secure a conviction.
The court was informed that the abuse was perpetrated by Towson when he himself was only 12 years old.
The assaults reportedly occurred on an almost weekly basis, causing profound and lasting damage to the victim’s mental health.
The victim endured what was described as long-lasting "mental torture" as a result of the repeated abuse.
The case also highlighted the emotional toll taken on the survivor, who wrote a personal impact statement detailing how the trauma had left him feeling worthless, plagued by crippling self-doubt, and emotionally shattered.
Victoria Rose, the prosecutor, explained that the victim had described the abuse during the trial, emphasizing the frequency and severity of the assaults.
She added that the delays in bringing the case to court had been a "living nightmare" for the survivor, but that he experienced a sense of relief upon the guilty verdict.
The victim, supported by his family and partner, now feels more optimistic about his future and is eager to begin a new chapter in his life.
During sentencing, Judge Ebrahim Mooncey addressed the court and acknowledged the profound impact the abuse had on the victim.
The judge noted that the victim had turned to alcohol and described himself as an emotional wreck at times.
The judge remarked that Towson’s actions had deprived the victim of a potentially different life, had it not been for the abuse.
Ricky Towson was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison.
The court also ordered that he be placed on the sex offender register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities after his release.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating effects of childhood sexual abuse and the importance of justice for survivors.
