RICKY MORRIS VIOLENTLY ATTACKS EX-PARTNER IN SWANSEA CITY CENTER
Ricky Morris, a man from Swansea, has been found guilty of a brutal assault on the mother of his five-week-old son in the heart of Swansea city center.The incident took place on the morning of May 13, when Morris approached Jodie Harris, his former partner, who was out shopping with their infant in a stroller.
According to court records, Morris, aged 31, confronted Ms.
Harris at approximately 11 am on Plymouth Street.
The court proceedings revealed that Morris and Ms.
Harris had been involved in a tumultuous relationship that began in January 2021.
Their relationship was marred by drug use and significant difficulties, which placed considerable strain on both parties.
Several months into their relationship, Ms.
Harris discovered she was pregnant.
Determined to provide a better environment for her child, she made the decision to quit using recreational drugs.
This decision was especially important to her after Morris was incarcerated for a previous offense.
Despite promising to abstain from drugs upon his release, Morris failed to keep his word, which ultimately led to their separation in August.
In the months that followed, Morris became increasingly upset about the name Ms.
Harris had chosen for their baby.
His discontent manifested in persistent voicemails and, eventually, a street confrontation.
The situation escalated when Morris physically assaulted Ms.
Harris by punching her and then continued to follow her as she attempted to walk away.
During this violent encounter, Morris assaulted her again, leaving her terrified of losing custody of her child.
Members of the public who witnessed the attack intervened, and CCTV footage captured the entire incident, showing Morris's aggressive behavior.
Morris later admitted in court to causing actual bodily harm.
The injuries sustained by Ms.
Harris were severe; she suffered significant bruising and swelling to her face and arm, necessitating a visit to Morriston Hospital's emergency department.
During the trial, Morris's defense argued that the assault was not premeditated and highlighted his recognition of the need for intervention and rehabilitation.
Despite this, the court sentenced Morris to 26 weeks in prison and issued a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting Ms.
Harris for two years.
The judge condemned the attack as vicious and unprovoked, emphasizing that Ms.
