RICKY DAVIES FROM MERTHYR JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN BRIXXHAM BEAUTY SALON
In September 2020, a disturbing incident unfolded in the seaside town of Brixham, where a holidaymaker named Ricky Davies was involved in a serious criminal act that led to his imprisonment. Davies, a 27-year-old resident of Taff Glenn View in Merthyr, South Wales, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl inside a local beauty salon, an act that shocked the community and drew significant legal attention.According to court proceedings, the incident occurred on October 1 of the previous year. The victim, her boyfriend, and another friend had entered the salon for a routine appointment. Unbeknownst to them, Davies had followed closely behind, behaving in a disruptive and aggressive manner. Witnesses reported that he initially engaged in inappropriate antics, such as attempting to feed chips to the young girl, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Things escalated when Davies, who was intoxicated at the time, forcibly entered the salon and committed a sexual assault. He grabbed the girl from behind and touched her private parts through her clothing, causing her to cry out in shock and pain. The victim immediately tried to distance herself from him, but Davies ignored her protests and continued his assault. She was just 16 years old, and her age was considered an aggravating factor in the case.
After the assault, Davies was forcibly removed from the salon. However, he did not leave peacefully. Instead, he re-entered the establishment and directed his aggression towards the victim’s boyfriend and another man present. He threw punches at them, with one punch grazing the face of one of the men. During this chaotic scene, police officers, who had been dealing with an unrelated matter outside the salon, intervened. They entered the premises and promptly arrested Davies.
During police interviews, Davies initially claimed that he had only cupped the girl’s bottom as a joke, attempting to downplay the severity of his actions. However, he later admitted to groping her, acknowledging the sexual nature of his misconduct.
At Exeter Crown Court, Judge David Evans sentenced Davies to 13 months in prison. In his remarks, the judge emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating, “Your attentions were wholly unwanted yet you ignored her obvious repugnance and her attempt to move away from you. You invaded her personal space, this time in an unambiguously sexual way. You did something which any person, sober or drunk, could tell would likely frighten and humiliate the victim. Her personal statement indicated that you took away her confidence.”
The judge also highlighted the fact that the assault took place in the presence of the victim’s boyfriend, whom Davies also assaulted after re-entering the salon. The case underscores the serious consequences of such criminal behavior, especially involving a minor, and serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting personal boundaries and the law.
