Ricky Box, 39 years old, was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm through assault and intentionally strangling his pregnant ex-partner during a violent attack at a 'safe-house' in Shildon.
The assault was prolonged, taking place over four to five hours in February, and resulted in her sustaining cuts, scratches, abrasions, and a head injury.
During the attack, Box threatened to kill both her and her unborn baby.
As a consequence, he received a two-year prison sentence and a seven-year restraining order.
