2016: RAPIST WHO BRANDISHED MEAT CLEAVER JAILED FOR 12 YEARS

A RAPIST who subjected a woman to a humiliating ordeal in her own home has been jailed for twelve years.

Worcester Crown Court heard that Rickie Carter brandished a meat cleaver, told the woman to strip, and then laughed at her and said she was fat before forcing her to have sex with him on a sofa.

The 37-year-old of Foxlydiate Crescent, Redditch, was found guilty by a jury.

He refused to cooperate with the probation service, claiming innocence, and made several serious suicide attempts since the verdict.

Carter claimed the woman had sent provocative text messages and invited him to her home in October last year, but the prosecution said she was surprised to see him at her door around 8 pm.

Judge Abbas Mithani, QC, described the incident as a 'degrading and humiliating ordeal,' noting Carter took a meat cleaver and placed it on the table, which frightened the woman.

He also struck her on the leg with the blunt edge of the knife, hit her with a toy dinosaur, and threatened to throw boiling water over her.

Carter, who had ten previous convictions, was sentenced to twelve years for rape, with an additional two years six months for assault causing actual bodily harm to run concurrently.

As he was taken to the cells, he shouted that he would serve his sentence like an innocent man.
