East Lothian Rapist
Ricki Anderson has been sentenced to prison for serious sexual crimes after attacking a woman in a vehicle between East Lothian and Dumfries. The 37-year-old was handed a sentence of seven years and nine months, instructed to register as a sex offender, and was issued a 15-year non-harassment order by the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, April 23.

He was convicted of rape, drug supply, and theft at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on February 21, following an assault on the woman in June 2021, who has since died. The court heard her statements and evidence since she was unable to testify in person.

Additionally, Anderson was sentenced for assaulting another woman in a Dumfries flat in early 2022.

Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson from Dumfries and Galloway Public Protection Unit said: “Although one of the victims in this case has passed away, it was right her evidence was heard in court through the reading of statements. Our thoughts remain with her family and the other victim, and I hope this sentencing offers them some comfort as they move forward with their lives.”

He continued, “I also want to reassure our communities that we are committed to thoroughly investigating all reports of sexual offenses and bringing those responsible to justice. I encourage anyone who has been a victim of such offenses to contact us for support.”
