Paedophile Jailed for Two Decades of Historic Abuse Against Young Girl

PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR TWO DECADES OF HISTORIC ABUSE AGAINST YOUNG GIRL

Richard Toomer, aged 48 and residing on Linden Road, West Parley, was sentenced to eight years in prison for historic sexual offences committed against a young girl.

The abuse began when Toomer was caught performing a sex act in front of her, who was a teenager at the time.

The misconduct escalated to her performing oral sex on him, with these incidents occurring very regularly over two years.

The victim also disclosed that she and Toomer had discussed having full sex, but she was reluctant before turning 16.

Eventually, they did have sexual intercourse, which caused the victim to become overwhelmed and she avoided him afterward.

During the ordeal, the victim developed alcohol addiction, engaged in self-harm, and experienced suicidal thoughts.

A victim impact statement revealed her feelings of betrayal, loss of trust, and ongoing nightmares about the abuse, which she still experiences nearly 20 years later.

The court was informed that Toomer showed remorse and admitted his guilt when confronted by his victim in 2021 via email.

His defense highlighted his remorseful attitude, with his lawyer stating he described his behavior as unforgivable and expressed deep regret, saying he takes full responsibility.

Judge William Mousley KC reflected that the abuse caused serious psychological harm to the victim, and in light of Toomer's guilty pleas, sentenced him to seven years imprisonment.
