RICHARD TILLEY AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LINCOLNSHIRE
A man identified as Richard John Tilley has been sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of committing historical child sexual offences that date back to 1998.The conviction was secured following a trial held at Lincoln Crown Court, where Tilley, aged 52 and of no fixed address, faced charges related to multiple acts of indecent assault.
The court heard that all the offences involved the same victim, highlighting a disturbing pattern of abuse over a period of time.
The details of the case, as presented by Lincolnshire Police, revealed the gravity of the crimes committed by Tilley, which had remained undisclosed for many years until the victim came forward.
In addition to his prison sentence, Tilley was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities following his release.
Furthermore, he was placed under a sexual harm prevention order, which imposes restrictions and conditions aimed at preventing any future offences and protecting the community.
The investigation was led by Detective Constable Caroline Pendell, who expressed her appreciation for the victim’s bravery.
She stated, "I would like to thank the victim for having the courage to come forward and having the confidence in the police and criminal justice system to bring the offender to justice.
The victim in this case has remarkable strength and courage." This case underscores the importance of reporting historical abuse and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement in Lincolnshire to pursue justice for victims of sexual offences, regardless of how much time has passed since the crimes occurred.
