Moore, a former sailor residing on Park Crescent in Wigan, was brought before Chester Crown Court to face multiple charges related to sexual offenses committed between 1988 and 1992.
Initially, he was charged with eight counts, which included serious allegations of rape and indecent assault.
However, prior to the commencement of his trial, Moore chose to plead guilty to three of these charges, including the most severe one—rape of a girl under 16.
The remaining charges, which he denied, were allowed to be left on file, meaning they could potentially be considered in future proceedings or serve as additional evidence of his guilt.
According to court records, Moore admitted to raping a girl under the age of 16 and also pleaded guilty to two counts of indecently assaulting another girl under 14.
The identities of the victims, who are protected by legal confidentiality, have not been disclosed publicly.
One of these victims was the individual who suffered the rape, while the other was subjected to the indecent assaults.
The charges Moore denied included four counts of indecent assault of a girl under 14 and one count of gross indecency with a girl under 16.
Following his guilty pleas, the court sentenced Moore to 19 years in prison, with an additional 12 months on extended licence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision after his release.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the offenses and the impact on the victims, who demonstrated remarkable courage in coming forward to report their abuse.
Police officials praised the victims for their bravery and resilience, which played a crucial role in bringing Moore to justice.
Moore’s case has garnered significant media attention in Wigan and the surrounding areas, highlighting the importance of safeguarding children and ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are held accountable.
The court also ordered that Moore remain in custody until his sentencing hearing, which was scheduled for April 22, 2022, allowing for a thorough legal process to be completed.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and support for victims of child sexual abuse, as well as the commitment of law enforcement and judicial authorities to pursue justice in even the most complex and sensitive cases.
