RICHARD MAWDSLEY SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON IN CHELMSFORD FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD

A man named Richard Mawdsley has been sentenced to a five-year prison term for the sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl.

Mawdsley was convicted of encouraging a child under 13 to participate in sexual activities without any penetration involved.

The sentencing took place at Chelmsford Crown Court, where he was also ordered to be registered as a sex offender for life.

Additionally, an indefinite sexual offences prevention order was issued, restricting him from being in the company of females under 16 without appropriate supervision.

Mawdsley is expected to be released around March 2013 and will remain under supervision on licence until September 2015.
