March 2010 Man from Kings Lynn jailed for sex assault on girl, 13 A man from Norfolk has been jailed for two years and nine months for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl he had plied with beer and cannabis.
Richard Crompton, 38, of Sir Lewis Street, in King’s Lynn, admitted two offences of sexual activity with the girl.
Norwich Crown Court heard he had lost his wife, family and job as a result of the offences committed in October 2009.
“No force was used and in a sense she consented,” Judge Paul Downes said.
“Matters are aggravated by the differences in your ages.
It was a one off.” John Farmer, for Crompton, said his client was a man of good character who had lost everything since committing these offences.
“His wife and daughter had returned to Ireland and [he] will have to restart his life from scratch when he is released from prison.” Crompton was put on the sex offenders register for life and disqualified from ever working with children.
