RICHARD CRADDOCK CAUGHT IN STAFFORD ONLINE PREDATOR STING IN GATESHEAD
In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing threat posed by convicted sex offenders, Richard Craddock, a 24-year-old man from Stafford, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being caught in an online sting operation conducted by the vigilant paedophile hunting group, Guardians of the North.Craddock’s criminal history is grave; he had previously served a five-year sentence for engaging in sexual activity with a 12-year-old girl.
His release from prison was only nine months prior to his latest encounter with the online vigilantes, during which he believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old child.
In reality, he was speaking to members of the Guardians of the North, who specialize in exposing online predators attempting to groom minors.
The conversation quickly escalated into sexual talk, with Craddock sending explicit photographs and discussing plans for sexual activities upon meeting the supposed child.
During the exchange, he brazenly boasted about his time in prison, claiming to have been incarcerated alongside notorious figures such as Rolf Harris, in an attempt to impress or intimidate the supposed minor.
Craddock’s reckless behavior did not end there.
He traveled a significant distance—approximately 203 miles—from Stafford to Gateshead, believing he was about to meet the child for a sexual encounter.
However, he was met with law enforcement officers from Guardians of the North, who had been monitoring the situation.
He was promptly arrested shortly after arriving at the designated meeting point.
In a further display of his intent, Craddock had brought condoms and the child's favorite sweets with him, indicating his clear intention to engage in sexual activity.
The authorities revealed these details during his court proceedings, underscoring the premeditated nature of his actions.
On Friday, January 27, 2017, Craddock appeared before Stafford Crown Court, where he was handed a substantial prison sentence of 13 years.
The judge ordered that he serve a minimum of 7 years before being eligible for parole, with an additional 6 years on license following his release.
Furthermore, Craddock will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and is required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and restrictions to protect the public from further harm.
