RICHARD CHESHIRE'S BRUTAL DOG ATTACK IN OLDBURY LEADS TO COMMUNITY ORDER AND LIFETIME BAN

Richard James Cheshire, a man from Oldbury, was involved in a disturbing incident that drew significant attention from local authorities and the community. Born in 1982 and residing at Beeches Road, West Bromwich B70 6HH, Cheshire was captured on CCTV engaging in a violent assault against his own dog during what was described as a drunken rampage. The footage revealed a series of aggressive acts, including him throwing his bull terrier-cross named Pablo across the floor, kicking the animal, stamping on its head, and even spitting on it.

Witnesses and the footage showed Cheshire chasing the terrified dog into an elevator within his block of flats in Oldbury. The dog was seen cowering and whimpering as Cheshire continued his assault, seemingly unrepentant, as he gave a thumbs-up to the camera. The entire attack was recorded over a 30-minute period in the communal area of the residential building, and parts of this recording were presented to magistrates during the court proceedings.

Despite the severity of the footage and the clear evidence of animal cruelty, the magistrates decided against imposing a jail sentence. As Cheshire left the Birmingham court, he shouted to the magistrates, claiming, “I want you to know, I love animals,” a statement that drew further criticism given the nature of his actions.

During the hearing, Sukhdip Randhawa, representing Cheshire, explained that his client had recently taken Pablo in as a stray just a week prior to the incident in September. Randhawa also stated that Cheshire was under the influence of alcohol at the time and could not recall the events clearly, describing him as being “on a bit of a bender.” He emphasized that Cheshire was an animal lover and expressed a desire to own a pet again in the future.

In terms of sentencing, Cheshire was given a 12-month community order, which included 120 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, he was banned from keeping any animals for life. However, the ban could potentially be lifted after just two years, should he apply and meet the necessary conditions.

It is also noteworthy that in a 2019 update reported by BirminghamLive, Richard James Cheshire tragically died after being struck by a car. The driver involved in the incident was identified as Karma, marking a somber end to his story.
