Rhys Jones, a 31-year-old man from Rhondda Cynon Taf, found himself back in legal trouble after he failed to adhere to the strict conditions set by the court following his previous convictions.

The case was heard at Cardiff Crown Court, where it was revealed that Jones had previously been convicted in 2022 of making indecent images of children.

As part of his sentence, he was placed under a community order, which included a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sex offender notification requirements.

These measures mandated that he be regularly monitored by probation services to prevent any further offending and to ensure compliance with the court's directives.

During a recent sentencing hearing, it was disclosed that Jones had committed additional breaches of these orders.

Despite the court's efforts to supervise him, he failed to keep authorities informed of his whereabouts after leaving his accommodation at the Three Saint Hotel in Llantrisant.

The breach occurred between September 27 and October 2, during which time he absconded, evading law enforcement and probation officers.

His disappearance prompted a search, culminating in his eventual arrest and remand in custody.

The court was informed that the probation service no longer considered the suspended sentence from his previous conviction as a viable option, citing concerns over his potential risk to children and the possibility of domestic violence against family members.

These concerns contributed to the decision to impose a more severe sentence.

Jones, who is currently without a fixed address, pleaded guilty to breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order and failing to surrender himself to authorities.
