RHODRI JONES FROM SWANSEA SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR ONLINE CHILD EXPLOITATION
A disturbing case involving Rhodri Jones, a man from Swansea, has culminated in his conviction and sentencing for engaging in online sexual communications with what he believed was a 12-year-old girl.The incident was uncovered after Jones initiated contact through a social media platform, believing he was speaking to a minor.
In reality, he was communicating with an undercover police officer operating a decoy profile.
According to the Swansea Crown Court proceedings, the police investigation revealed that on June 14, 2022, Jones had contacted a profile on Chatiw, a social media site, which he thought belonged to a young girl.
The profile was, in fact, a police decoy designed to catch individuals attempting to exploit minors online.
The court heard that Jones and the decoy exchanged messages, during which he shared explicit details about himself, including boasting about the size of his penis and sending multiple photographs of his genitalia.
Following this exchange, authorities acted swiftly.
In July 2022, officers visited Jones's residence on Phoebe Road, Copper Quarter, Swansea, and arrested him.
During the search, they confiscated several electronic devices for forensic analysis.
