REGINALD EDWARDS FROM MELTON MOWBRAY ADMITS TO MAKING 50 INDECENT CHILD PHOTOGRAPHS
In a case that has shocked the local community of Melton Mowbray, Reginald Edwards, a 69-year-old resident of North Street, has confessed to producing a total of 50 indecent images involving children.The charges were formally brought against him at Leicester Magistrates Court, where he appeared to face the serious allegations.
During the court proceedings, Edwards pleaded guilty to creating 35 images of children, with a significant portion of these photographs classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of explicit content.
These images were reportedly taken in the village of Asfordby Valley, where Edwards resides.
In addition to these, he admitted to producing six images categorized as Category B and another six as Category C, all involving minors and captured within the same locality.
Furthermore, Edwards acknowledged making three indecent images of a prohibited nature at Asfordby Hill, another area within the vicinity.
The court was informed that all these photographs were taken over a relatively short period, specifically between September 7 and November 30 of the previous year, highlighting a concerning pattern of activity during that timeframe.
Following his admission, Edwards was remanded on conditional bail.
The court also ordered him to register with Melton police in accordance with the provisions set out in the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Additionally, he is currently prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 16 until his sentencing, which is scheduled to occur later this month after the completion of pre-sentence reports.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and the importance of community vigilance in safeguarding minors from such heinous crimes.
