Raymond Paxton

Little Horton Sexual Abuser

April 2005 Monster, 72, is jailed for rape of boy, 14 A brutal sex attacker who kidnapped and raped a terrified 14-year-old boy before “discarding him like a piece of meat” has been jailed for nine years. But as Judge James Stewart was handing down his sentence at Bradford’s Crown Court, an ambulance was on its way to pick up rapist Raymond Paxton after he claimed to have taken an overdose in court. Last night, 72-year-old Paxton was in a stable condition and a hospital spokesman said there were “no real causes for concern.” He was expected to be released and taken to jail sometime today. The jury yesterday unanimously found Paxton guilty of a charge of rape and guilty of kidnap by a majority of 10-1. They had heard how the homosexual pensioner had kidnapped the boy from Bradford Interchange as he was on his way home from school, taken him to his flat at Brunel Gardens, Little Horton, and raped him whilst his Rottweiler dog kept guard. The trial at Bradford Crown Court had been told how the teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had attempted to take his own life after Paxton had winked at him as he drove past some 18 months after the rape. Judge Stewart told him: “The effect of what you did has been catastrophic as far as he is concerned. “He was so traumatised that he tried to hang himself and ran away from home.” The jury had heard that Paxton had been a persistent visitor to the Interchange. The security staff had become so concerned about the way he would loiter around the gents toilets that they started to keep a log of the person they called “red Mazda man”. But tragically Paxton was not seen when he again called at the Interchange in February, 2003. He saw his young victim, who was on his way home from school, and grabbed him before bundling him into his car and taking the terrified teenager to his flat. The jury were shown a taped interview the boy gave to police when he first made the complaints in which he wept as he described to the officer what had happened. “At first I thought I was dead. I literally thought he was going to kill,” he said. “I honestly did think he was going to kill me once he had finished with me. I thought this is it. You hear about people getting abducted and killed and I just thought this was me.” Ordering Paxton to be put on the sex offenders’ register for life the judge added: “He was five stones and was small in stature described by his mother as a happy child. “He was about to get on an escalator when you grabbed him from behind. He was too scared to shout out and you drove him to your home where you forcibly raped him. After that you drove him to a street near Manchester Road where you discarded him like a piece of meat.” Paxton had denied the allegations and during the trial had tried to discredit the boy by claiming he was a rent boy who had offered himself for £10. “The jury saw through these lies and in my judgement rightly convicted you,” Judge Stewart told him. Paxton was sentenced to nine years in jail on each charge to run concurrently.
