RAYMOND GREENLEES SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN EDINBURGH AND PAISLEY
In a significant case that has shocked the local communities of Edinburgh and Paisley, Raymond Greenlees has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sexual offences committed against two young girls. The crimes, which spanned over a decade, involved systematic abuse that has left a lasting impact on the victims and has prompted a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Greenlees, whose offences took place between 1969 and 1980, was brought before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016.
During the court proceedings, he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being found guilty of three charges of lewd and libidinous conduct.
These charges detailed the disturbing nature of his actions, which involved prolonged periods of sexual abuse against the victims.
The victims, whose ages ranged from as young as two years old to fifteen, suffered at the hands of Greenlees at various addresses located in Edinburgh and Paisley.
One of the girls endured a systematic pattern of abuse over a period of ten years, a period during which Greenlees repeatedly assaulted her.
The second victim was subjected to sexual abuse during regular babysitting sessions at a neighbour’s home, where Greenlees would often be present.
The case came to light after one of the victims decided to come forward and report the abuse in 2013.
This initial report prompted Police Scotland’s Public Protection Unit in Edinburgh to launch a comprehensive investigation into Greenlees’s activities.
The investigation was meticulous and thorough, ultimately leading to the second victim also coming forward to report similar offences committed by Greenlees.
Greenlees, who is now 59 years old, pleaded guilty to the charges last month, acknowledging his guilt and accepting the court’s judgment.
His conviction and subsequent sentencing mark a significant step in addressing the abuse and delivering justice for the victims involved.
