RANZDAR MOHAMAD CAUGHT IN LEICESTER CHILD ABUSE STING AT TRAIN STATION
In August 2021, a serious incident unfolded at Leicester train station involving the apprehension of a man suspected of attempting to engage in illegal sexual activities with a minor. The individual, identified as Ranzdar Mohamad, aged 34 and residing on Culham Avenue in Leicester, was lured into a trap set by vigilant paedophile hunters operating within the city.
Mohamad had initially initiated contact with what he believed was a teenage girl through Facebook.
Unbeknownst to him, the profile he was communicating with was a fabricated account created by members of the paedophile hunter group Elite.
This organization conducts online campaigns aimed at identifying individuals they suspect intend to commit sexual offences against minors.
The fake profile was constructed using an alias and old photographs of the hunter’s own daughter, who is now an adult.
According to the prosecution, James Smith-Wilds, during proceedings at Leicester Crown Court, detailed how Mohamad sent unsolicited messages to the fake account and engaged in extensive conversations, exchanging hundreds of messages over a period of weeks.
During these exchanges, Mohamad inquired about the girl’s virginity and her body measurements.
He also discussed her underwear and expressed sexual intentions, asking what they might do if they were to meet.
The fictitious girl claimed to be 14 years old from Birmingham.
Despite knowing her age, Mohamad continued to ask increasingly sexualized questions.
He proposed specific sexual acts and described plans to cuddle, kiss, and give her a massage.
He also requested that she wear “sexy clothing” for their meeting.
He arranged to meet her in Leicester, intending to spend the night together.
When he sent a message stating he was outside Leicester train station on October 9, 2021, he was confronted by the woman who had set up the fake Facebook profile.
This encounter was part of a sting operation coordinated by the paedophile hunter group Elite in collaboration with four members of another organization, Pheonix Predator Hunters.
These groups film and live stream their confrontations with suspects to prevent crimes and gather evidence.
Mohamad was detained at the scene until police arrived.
He was subsequently charged and admitted to attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming and engaging in sexual communication with a minor.
The court was informed that he had no prior convictions.
Judge Keith Raynor addressed the court, stating, “You had hundreds of online conversations with a girl you believed was 14.
I am absolutely sure you wanted to have sexual intercourse with her.
You undertook significant planning and told her never to tell anyone else and to delete the messages.
There was a large age difference.
You’ve expressed remorse and shame, and I’ve read references about your previous good character.
I am making a small reduction in the sentence as there was no real girl.” As a result, Mohamad was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Additionally, he was placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future conduct and protect potential victims from similar offenses in the future.
