CHELTENHAM PERVERT PHILIP MUSTOE SENTENCED FOR ONLINE GROOMING OF TEENAGE GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cheltenham, Philip Mustoe, a 25-year-old man residing on Priors Road, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after admitting to a series of serious offences related to the sexual exploitation of minors.The case was heard at Gloucester Crown Court, where Mustoe appeared via video link to face justice for his actions.
Mustoe was convicted of 14 separate charges connected to child sexual exploitation, and his sentence includes seven years and four months behind bars.
In addition to his imprisonment, he has been placed on the sex offenders register for life, and a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order has been imposed, reflecting the court’s assessment of him as a significant danger to the public.
The offences span a period from 2015 to 2018, during which Mustoe engaged in grooming teenage girls through online platforms.
He operated an Instagram account that amassed nearly 7,000 followers, which he used as a tool to attract and manipulate young victims.
The account served as a space where teenagers could submit photographs, which Mustoe would then post publicly in an attempt to garner likes and social validation.
However, beneath this seemingly innocuous activity, Mustoe was coercing the girls into sending him indecent images.
He used threats and intimidation to ensure compliance, and these images were subsequently shared on his account and with other individuals, further perpetuating the exploitation.
The police investigation was triggered when a teenage girl, who had developed an online relationship with Mustoe, confided in a relative about being forced to share explicit images.
The relative took action by confronting Mustoe online, which led him to threaten her in return for more images.
This incident prompted law enforcement to intervene.
Mustoe was first arrested in September 2017 in connection with these offences.
He was released under investigation while authorities continued their inquiries.
The case intensified when a second victim, another teenage girl, came forward with allegations.
Subsequently, Mustoe was re-arrested in October 2018.
Further investigations uncovered a significant amount of illicit material stored on devices owned by Mustoe.
Officers found two category B videos, 299 category C photographs, and over 6,000 borderline or indicative images.
These findings led to additional charges, including causing a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity, causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, inciting child sexual exploitation, distributing indecent photographs of children, possessing indecent images for show, and causing child prostitution or pornography.
Judge’s ruling reflected the severity of Mustoe’s actions, emphasizing the danger he posed to vulnerable minors and the community at large.
The sentence and restrictions aim to prevent any further harm and serve as a stark warning to those who exploit children online.
