FORMER SCOUT LEADER SEXUALLY ABUSED BOYS IN THE 1970S AND 80S
A man who previously led a Scout group in Cambridgeshire has received a prison sentence after admitting to sexually abusing children during the 1970s and 1980s.On December 7, a 73-year-old named Philip Levi, residing at Vinery Court, Ramsey, was sentenced to a total of 11 years and three months in prison.
Levi had earlier pleaded guilty to 15 counts of indecent assault against a minor under 16, along with two charges of engaging in indecency with a child under 16.
The presiding judge characterized Levi as a predatory and persistent offender, highlighting how he deliberately targeted boys he was supposed to be caring for and mentoring.
The abuse took place between 1972 and 1984 when Levi was serving as a Scout Master in Harrow, during which he assaulted several young boys.
The Metropolitan police launched an investigation into Levi in November 2016 after one male victim came forward, reporting sexual abuse by Levi in his childhood.
This led officers to uncover additional victims with similar experiences.
Levi was taken into custody in December 2017 and subsequently faced criminal charges.
