MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES
A man from Orpington, Philip Best, aged 26, has avoided imprisonment after admitting to possessing a large collection of child abuse images and videos.Best pleaded guilty to three counts related to the possession of indecent images of children.
On June 8, at Bromley Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to a one-year prison term, which was suspended for two years.
The court was informed that the illegal material was found in April 2024, comprising 70 images and 117 videos categorised as 'Category A,' indicating the most serious level of abuse involving extreme sexual exploitation of minors.
Residing on Meldrum Close, Best was mandated to attend 26 days of a specialised program and participate in 30 days of rehabilitation activities.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for a decade and issued a sexual harm prevention order extending until 2033.
This order restricts his contact with other registered offenders and limits his access to digital devices.
He is not allowed to use or own any device capable of internet access without written approval from law enforcement, and he must surrender any such devices for inspection if requested.
He was also ordered to contribute £85 towards prosecution expenses and pay a £187 victim surcharge.
