PETER WILSON'S SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN LEICESTER: PENSIONER JAILED FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Leicester community, 86-year-old Peter Wilson, a retired engineer residing on Birkenshaw Road in New Parks, Leicester, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offences committed against three young girls.The crimes, which spanned from approximately 1984 to 1991, involved the abuse of victims aged between three and nine years old, leaving a lasting scar on their lives.
Wilson was convicted by a jury after a detailed trial that uncovered disturbing details of his misconduct.
The allegations included acts of indecency such as kissing two of the victims, coercing one to perform an act upon him, and indecently touching a third girl.
Prosecutor Sam Mainds revealed that these offences took place in a Leicester office at Wilson’s former workplace, as well as inside a mobile home, highlighting the disturbing nature and the calculated approach of the abuse.
Throughout the trial, Wilson maintained his innocence, denying any wrongdoing.
He claimed that nothing untoward had ever occurred and even suggested that at least two of the girls had conspired against him to frame him.
His defense argued that the accusations were fabricated, but the jury found him guilty of nine separate sex offences.
During sentencing at Leicester Crown Court, Judge Robert Brown addressed the court and the victims, emphasizing the gravity of the offences.
He stated, “These offences happened between 20 and 30 years ago, and you’ve lived the last 20 to 30 years of your life in a normal way.” The judge acknowledged the pain endured by the victims, noting that they had to relive their traumatic experiences during the trial.
“The victims have lived with constant pain, misery, and torment of the memory of what you did to them,” he said.
Judge Brown was particularly critical of Wilson’s lack of remorse, describing him as being in denial throughout the proceedings.
The court heard that Wilson had a prior conviction for indecently assaulting another young girl between 1987 and 1991, which added weight to the severity of his current crimes.
The judge remarked, “There was an abuse of trust, grooming of your victims, and obvious planning involved in these offences.” While acknowledging Wilson’s age, the judge noted that he was in good health for his 86 years and that a custodial sentence would be more arduous for him than for a younger individual.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that the sentence was necessary to reflect the seriousness of the crimes and to provide some measure of closure for the victims, who had shown remarkable dignity and bravery in giving evidence.
Wilson was also subjected to a lifelong sex offender registration and was placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
This order prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16, aiming to prevent any future harm.
During the proceedings, Wilson was visibly emotional, weeping in the dock and giving evidence that he would “never” behave in such a manner, describing the prosecution’s allegations as “filthy.” In conclusion, the case has left a lasting impact on the Leicester community, highlighting the importance of justice for victims of sexual abuse and the ongoing need for vigilance and protection of vulnerable children.
