PETER WILLIAMSON SALFORD CHILD ABUSE SCANDAL REACHES YORK CROWN COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Peter Williamson, a 61-year-old man from Salford, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after being found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl. The heinous acts came to light after Williamson was caught on TikTok, where he was recorded engaging in sexual assault against the child, leading to his swift arrest and subsequent conviction.
According to court proceedings, Williamson, who has a troubling history of sexual offenses, secretly visited the girl’s mother on the North Yorkshire coast.
During these visits, he repeatedly abused the girl behind her mother’s back, subjecting her to multiple assaults over a period of time.
The prosecutor, Shaun Dodds, revealed that Williamson had also threatened to kill the girl, her mother, and others, claiming to have killed in the past.
These threats added a layer of intimidation and fear that compounded the trauma experienced by the young victim.
The child, however, managed to record the last instance of abuse and sent the footage via TikTok to relatives and friends.
This act of bravery ultimately led to the exposure of Williamson’s crimes.
The relatives, upon viewing the video, alerted the girl’s mother, which prompted her to contact authorities.
Williamson was promptly arrested following this revelation.
The mother, speaking through a statement in court, expressed her shock and disbelief at the horrifying events.
“I was in utter shock,” she said.
“I couldn’t believe what had happened.
I couldn’t believe what I had seen on the film.” She described how discovering the extent of Williamson’s abuse, both in their home and in his residence on Centaur Close, Swinton, Salford, made her feel physically sick.
The psychological toll on the young girl was evident, as her school performance had suffered significantly due to the trauma inflicted upon her.
Williamson pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault, which encompassed more than 22 separate incidents, as well as two charges of failing to notify police of his current address, violating legal obligations for sex offenders.
The court, presided over by Judge Sean Morris, recognized the severity and duration of his offending, which spanned over a considerable period.
In addition to the 10-year prison sentence, Williamson was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
This order prohibits him from establishing relationships with women who have children under 18 without informing the police within 72 hours and imposes other restrictions aimed at preventing further harm.
Furthermore, Williamson will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
It was also revealed that Williamson failed to disclose his previous convictions to the mother of his latest victim.
His criminal record includes convictions for sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl and indecent assault of girls aged 10 and 15.
Despite being on the sex offenders’ register, Williamson did not inform the authorities about his contact with the North Yorkshire girl or his stays in the area, breaching legal requirements.
The crimes came to light when Williamson kissed the young girl while her mother was away.
At that moment, the girl was recording herself on TikTok, and the footage of Williamson’s actions was shared on the social media platform.
The video was seen by relatives and friends, who then contacted the girl’s mother, leading to Williamson’s arrest and subsequent conviction.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the potential dangers posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially when they breach legal restrictions and fail to disclose their whereabouts and contacts.
