PETER WATERS BRUTALLY STABS PET DOG IN GNOSALL AND BIRMINGHAM

Peter David James Waters, born on November 16, 1975, has been convicted of a heinous act of animal cruelty that shocked the local communities of Gnosall and Birmingham. Waters, who previously resided at Monks Walk in Gnosall, Stafford ST20 0DF, and more recently at Hunters Road in Birmingham B19 1DU since 2018, carried out a brutal attack on his pet dog, Kyzer, resulting in the animal's suffering and death.

According to court records, Waters inflicted multiple stab wounds on Kyzer, a dog he had only owned for four months. The attack was particularly violent, with Waters plunging a kitchen knife into the animal with such force that two of Kyzer’s ribs were fractured and his lungs collapsed. The knife itself snapped during the assault, underscoring the ferocity of the attack. The injuries inflicted included two stab wounds to the chest, which caused extensive bleeding. A veterinarian who examined Kyzer described the dog’s suffering as severe, noting that he would have experienced intense pain, a sensation of suffocation, panic, fear, and distress—clear indicators of cruelty and unnecessary suffering.

The RSPCA, which prosecuted Waters, uncovered dried blood around his flat, further evidence of the brutality involved. During police interviews, Waters claimed that he had taken Kyzer from a previous owner who had subjected him to abuse. He described Kyzer as “a brilliant dog,” attempting to justify his actions. However, the evidence told a different story.

On the morning of the attack, a neighbor reported that Waters had banged on his door, shouting and appearing unsteady on his feet with slurred speech. The neighbor recalled hearing Waters return to his flat and begin shouting at his dog, yelling, “Where’s your fucking lead?” Several hours later, around 4 pm, Waters returned to the neighbor’s door, repeatedly banging until he was answered. During this encounter, Waters confessed: “I’ve killed my dog. I’ve stabbed him twice in the heart and cut his throat.”

When police arrived, they found Waters in a highly intoxicated state. Officers described him as abusive and noted that he posed a threat. During the arrest, Waters attempted to kick and bite officers, necessitating physical restraint. He was eventually subdued and taken into custody.

The remains of Kyzer were discovered wrapped in blood-stained bedding inside a bin in Greenside, Yarnfield, near Eccleshall. The broken knife was still protruding from the dog’s body. At the police station, Waters continued to be aggressive, requiring the use of restraints and a spit hood to prevent further harm.

The RSPCA described Waters’ cruelty as “stomach-churning,” emphasizing that Kyzer would have been terrified during the attack. The case drew widespread condemnation for the brutality involved.

In sentencing, Waters received a jail term of 23 weeks and was disqualified from owning or keeping animals for 20 years, a ban that will last until February 2037. The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat animal cruelty and protect vulnerable animals from such horrific acts.
