PETER WALLIS SCARBOROUGH SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR NEARLY DECADE OF ABUSE
In a case that has shocked the community of Scarborough, Peter Wallis, aged 59, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 15 years for a series of heinous crimes committed against a young girl over a period of nearly ten years.The offences, which took place between 1985 and 1994, involved multiple acts of sexual abuse that have left a lasting impact on the victim, who is now 39 years old.
Wallis, who previously resided in Scarborough, was found guilty of six counts of rape, three counts of indecent assault, and one count of gross indecency.
His crimes were brought to light after the victim, demonstrating remarkable courage, came forward to report the abuse.
The case was heard at York Crown Court, where the judge handed down the 15-year sentence, reflecting the severity and brutality of Wallis’s actions.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Nadine Evans, a member of the Scarborough Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, issued a statement condemning Wallis’s conduct.
She described him as an “evil man” who subjected his victim to sustained and systematic abuse over many years.
Detective Evans expressed relief that Wallis had been imprisoned for such a significant period, emphasizing the importance of justice for victims of such appalling crimes.
She also took the opportunity to commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward and reporting the offences, acknowledging the difficulty and emotional toll involved in such disclosures.
Detective Evans reiterated that it is never too late for victims of sexual abuse to seek help and report their experiences to the authorities.
She urged anyone who has been subjected to similar crimes to come forward, assuring them that support and assistance are available.
