PETER SMITH, COUNTY DURHAM PRISON OFFICER, FOUND WITH INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN

A prison officer in County Durham, Peter Smith, attempted to access illegal images of children using his work computer and was discovered with indecent images on his personal laptop. Christopher Paul Burns, 52, was suspended after his 2014 arrest. An investigation revealed he possessed six indecent images and borderline material involving underage girls. Smith admitted a single charge of making indecent images. He was sentenced to a community order, which includes supervision, and was required to register as a sex offender for five years.
