April 2019 West Mersea paedophile looked at images of a young girl being ‘brutally violated’ A man who had an interest in child sexual abuse images looked at images of a young girl being “brutally violated”, a court heard. Peter Reeve, of Seaview Avenue, West Mersea, was sentenced earlier this week (Tuesday, April 16) at Chelmsford Crown Court after admitting making indecent images of children. Police attended and searched the 50-year-old’s home address and found 34 images on his laptop, including six from the most serious category. The court heard that some of the images involved a prepubescent female child “being subjected to the most vile abuse”. Oliver Newman, prosecuting, explained that images taken from Reeve’s laptop were of children aged between eight and 12. He said: “Officers attended and searched the defendant’s property and his laptop was forensically downloaded. “The items are listed on the indictment and there is some aggravation due to the nature of the images and the age of vulnerability of the people in the images.” Judge Jonathan Seely added: “They are clearly prepubescent children.” The court heard that of the 34 images found on Reeve’s laptop, six were from category A – the most serious category. There were also two images in category B and a further 26 from category C. Judge Seely, passing sentence, addressed the defendant in a scathing summary. “These are very serious offences,” he said. “You have pleaded guilty to making indecent images including in the most serious category. “Three of the category A images show a prepubescent female child being subjected to the most vile abuse. That’s a real little girl being brutally violated. “It wouldn’t have happened if there weren’t people like you who want to look at these images. In that sense you are responsible. The court provides very serious punishments.” Judge Seely sentenced Reeve to ten months in prison for his crime but took the decision to suspend his sentence.
