PETER RAMSEY'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN LONDON: SERIAL RAPIST FACES LIFE SENTENCE AFTER ATTACK AT WEMBLEY HOTEL
A notorious serial rapist, Peter Ramsey, is now facing the possibility of a life imprisonment after a terrifying assault on a vulnerable woman at a hotel in Wembley, London. This incident marks his second known conviction for such heinous acts, raising serious concerns about his dangerousness and the threat he poses to the public.
Ramsey, aged 38, was initially incarcerated in 2012 following a brutal attack on a legal secretary he met through an online dating platform.
He served a 12-year sentence for that assault, which involved vicious physical violence and sexual assault.
Despite his release, Ramsey's pattern of predatory behavior continued, culminating in the recent attack at a Best Western hotel located in Wembley, London, on May 15 of this year.
According to reports, Ramsey encountered a woman in distress on the street and offered her assistance, which quickly turned sinister.
He lured her into his hotel room under the pretense of helping her, but once inside, he overpowered her.
Ramsey then proceeded to strangle her, using physical force to subdue her, and forcibly engaged in sexual activity.
The assault was severe enough to involve non-fatal strangulation, a detail emphasized by prosecutor Usha Shergill during the court proceedings.
In her statement, the prosecutor explained that Ramsey’s ability to overpower and temporarily strangle the woman facilitated his criminal actions.
The court was told that this act of strangulation was a critical element in the assault, highlighting the level of violence involved.
On Monday, Harrow Crown Court heard Ramsey’s plea via videolink from HMP Wormwood Scrubs, where he is currently detained.
He admitted to charges of rape and intentional strangulation.
The court was informed that the strangulation was not fatal but was a significant factor in the assault, as it temporarily incapacitated the victim and allowed Ramsey to carry out his attack.
Judge Noel Lucas KC ordered a dangerousness assessment to be conducted before sentencing, scheduled for September.
The judge warned Ramsey that he is likely to face a very substantial sentence, especially considering the fact that this is a repeat offense involving rape.
Ramsey’s criminal history is extensive.
His first conviction in 2012 stemmed from an incident in August of the previous year, when he met a woman on the dating website plentyoffish.com.
During that encounter in Brixton, Ramsey, then 26, assaulted the woman after she refused to kiss him goodnight.
The attack left her with severe facial injuries, including the loss of several front teeth, and a total of 21 injuries.
During his trial, the victim recounted her experience, stating, “I thought I was going to die,” describing how Ramsey’s behavior changed as they reached her doorstep.
His DNA evidence, along with the use of her stolen Oyster card, led to his arrest and subsequent conviction for rape, grievous bodily harm, and theft.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison for that series of crimes.
In the recent hearing, Ramsey’s legal representative, barrister David Smith, expressed concern about his client’s safety in prison.
He requested that the court intervene to ensure Ramsey’s protection, citing fears that other inmates might target him due to his criminal history.
The judge ordered that a message be sent to the prison authorities emphasizing the importance of providing adequate security for Ramsey while he remains incarcerated.
Additionally, the court was informed that Ramsey’s partner plans to retrieve his car once it is released by the police.
Ramsey remains remanded in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled for September 4, following the latest attack in Wembley, London.
