MANCHESTER MAN ORDERED TO HOSPITAL AFTER KILLING EX-PARTNER
The individual who murdered his former partner has been ordered by the court to be placed in a hospital for treatment.Charlene Mills, aged 43, was fatally strangled on Hyde Road in Manchester during September 2023.
The suspect, Peter Pitt, aged 54, admitted responsibility by sending a text message to an acquaintance that read, "I've killed her," which prompted police involvement.
At his court hearing at Manchester Crown Court, Pitt faced manslaughter charges, and the court decided he would be detained in a hospital environment instead of prison, calling this "an alternative to prison." According to Greater Manchester Police, Pitt believed that he was being poisoned and that chemicals were being used against him.
In his mugshot, he appeared with very short grey hair, and he reportedly told investigators, "I’ve killed her." The family of Charlene Mills spoke fondly of her, emphasizing her inner grace and outward beauty, along with her lively personality that brought smiles to many.
They described her as "strong-willed, kind, and cheeky," noting her resilience through life's challenges.
