PETER O’KEEFE FROM NORWICH CAUGHT IN MAIDSTONE PAEDOPHILE STING
In a disturbing case that unfolded in Maidstone, a man identified as Peter O’Keefe, who hails from Norwich, has admitted to engaging in inappropriate online conversations with what he believed to be a minor. The incident was part of an operation conducted by the paedophile hunter group Shadow Hunters UK, which took place in April on Upper Fant Road in Maidstone.
O’Keefe appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on November 30 to face charges related to his online conduct.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to communicate sexually with a child between January 11 and April 4 of this year.
The court records also show that he admitted to attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act on February 13, as well as attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and trying to cause a child to participate in sexual acts during the same period.
The judge, Adele Williams, decided to adjourn the sentencing hearing until January 25, allowing time for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, O’Keefe was granted bail under strict conditions.
These conditions include restrictions on his internet usage, prohibiting any unsupervised contact with minors, and requiring him to reside at his home address in Plattens Court, Wroxham.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about online grooming and the efforts of law enforcement and community groups to combat such crimes in the region.
