PETER MUSSETT SHOCKS LONDON WITH DLR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN DOCKLANDS
In a disturbing series of events that has shocked the London community, Peter Mussett, a man with no fixed address, was convicted and sentenced for sexually assaulting two victims on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) within a span of just a few hours on September 18 of the previous year.According to court proceedings at Thames Magistrates’ Court, Mussett, aged 32 at the time, first targeted a woman from Lewisham.
The assault occurred as she was ascending the stairs at Shadwell DLR station.
Witnesses reported that Mussett suddenly pounced on her, and the attack was only halted when the woman challenged his inappropriate behavior, which caused him to flee the scene.
Later that same day, Mussett’s predatory actions continued on a DLR train traveling between Limehouse and Westferry.
On this occasion, he indecently touched a 12-year-old girl on two separate occasions while she was traveling alone.
The young girl was understandably terrified by the incident, which took place in a confined space, and her ordeal was described as an incredibly frightening experience.
Authorities believe that Mussett was deliberately using public transportation that day to seek out women and young girls for sexual gratification.
His actions have prompted a police investigation that underscores the dangers faced by vulnerable passengers on London’s transport network.
Mussett was subsequently sentenced to 44 weeks in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, he has been banned from using the London Underground and DLR while under the influence of alcohol or drugs for a period of seven years.
As part of his sentence, he is also required to register his Oyster card at a police station and pay compensation to both victims for the trauma inflicted.
Detective Inspector John Justice commented on the case, stating, “Mussett’s attack on a woman at Shadwell DLR only ceased when she challenged his behavior.
His second victim, a young girl, was traveling alone when he indecently touched her on two separate occasions in the carriage.
This was an incredibly frightening experience for her, and we are relieved that justice has been served.”
