In a disturbing revelation, Peter Mathieson, a man with a troubling criminal history, is currently employed as a playpark supervisor for East Dunbartonshire Council, despite his past offenses involving violence against women and children. Mathieson, aged 39 and residing in Auchinloch, Lanarkshire, holds a position within the council’s Street Sense unit, where he is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and safety of local playgrounds.

Critics and concerned members of the community have voiced their outrage, demanding that Mathieson be removed from his role. They argue that his criminal record, which includes three separate convictions for child assaults and one for domestic abuse, makes his continued employment inappropriate and potentially dangerous. Despite these serious allegations and convictions, he remains in a position of authority, with access to schools for tasks such as organizing cleaning and maintenance activities.

Legal documents reveal that Mathieson was subjected to a one-year non-harassment order and fined £135 in June of the previous year after admitting to aggressive behavior towards a woman at Airdrie Sheriff Court.
