October 2010 Pervert jailed for sex with girl, 14 A MAN has been jailed for three years for sexually grooming and having sex with a girl only half his age. The girl’s mother became worried in June last year when the girl didn’t come home and began a search, knocking on several doors before calling in police. Officers went to the home of Peter Jordan, aged 28, in Elgar Avenue, Malvern, but were told that the girl was not there. The next day, police went inside the house and found the girl in a bedroom. When asked how she had ended up in the house, the girl said that she had been in contact with Jordan through her mobile phone. She admitted having consensual sex with him. Simon Phillips, prosecuting at Worcester Crown Court, said it was accepted sexual intercourse had taken place with her consent. Richard Hull, for Jordan, said he had breached his bail by being seen in a park kissing and cuddling her. This had resulted in him being remanded in custody for 241 days on remand. Mr Hull submitted that there had been genuine affection by Jordan, but he had recognised it was inappropriate to have feelings of that nature for a 14-year-old. Judge Michael Cullum accepted a not guilty plea to a charge of rape, but said the aggravating feature was that sexual intercourse had taken place after grooming. Such offences were brought to court to protect girls from themselves when they were subject to the charms of an older man. He also ordered Jordan to sign the sex offenders’ register and he disqualified him from working with young people for life.
