PETER JEFFERY PREDATOR FROM HARTLEPOOL LIVING IN MIDDLESBROUGH TARGETS SCHOOLGIRLS ONLINE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Peter Jeffery, a 29-year-old man originally from Hartlepool, has been convicted of a series of heinous crimes involving the exploitation and abuse of vulnerable young girls through online platforms. After serving time in prison, Jeffery was released in May 2018 and is currently residing in Middlesbrough, where authorities continue to monitor his activities.
Jeffery's criminal behavior dates back to at least 2011, when he was initially bailed in connection with offenses against three young girls.
However, rather than ceasing his predatory conduct, he went on to commit further offenses against a fourth victim, demonstrating a pattern of escalating abuse.
His crimes came to light during a detailed investigation that uncovered the extent of his manipulative and malicious actions.
According to the prosecution, Jeffery employed sophisticated tactics to manipulate his victims, primarily teenage girls, by creating multiple online identities.
Using platforms such as Skype and other social media channels, he established different profiles to deceive and control his victims.
One of his victims, a teenage girl from the south of England, was contacted through Skype, where Jeffery used two contrasting personas to gain her trust.
One profile, named Logan, fostered a close emotional bond, while another, called Rock n Roll, coerced her into performing sexual acts on camera.
Prosecutor Jodie Kidd explained that Jeffery's manipulation extended to threats and intimidation.
When the girl refused to comply with his demands, Jeffery threatened to send indecent images—some doctored to include images of animals—to her and her father.
These threats were designed to instill fear and compliance.
The court heard that Jeffery forced the girl to perform degrading sexual acts on camera, often crying during the ordeal, and even attempted to persuade her to involve her younger siblings in sexual activities, which she refused.
Judge Howard Crowson condemned Jeffery’s actions, stating, “Using the two personalities you manipulated her so she acted in ways she would never have conceded without your involvement.
She and her younger brothers felt you were seeking to put their father in prison.” The judge emphasized that the victims confided in their parents, leading to police intervention.
During the investigation, police discovered 121 indecent images of children on Jeffery’s laptop, along with messages sent to 45 different girls via three Skype accounts.
Further disturbing revelations emerged when Jeffery, still under investigation and on bail, contacted another vulnerable schoolgirl with a history of self-harm.
Over daily conversations, he persuaded her to strip and perform sexual acts on camera, even sending her a graphic video of himself.
The impact on this girl and her family has been profound, with her father’s existing health issues worsened by the stress caused by Jeffery’s actions.
Jeffery’s crimes have been described as a “catalogue of predatory paedophile acts,” with Judge Crowson labeling him a manipulative offender who exploited young girls in their own homes.
The court highlighted the severe emotional and psychological damage inflicted on the victims, emphasizing the gravity of Jeffery’s misconduct.
The sentencing hearing was scheduled for March 27, 2014, where Jeffery faced multiple charges, including causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, making indecent images, and producing an indecent movie of a girl.
Jeffery’s criminal record and ongoing behavior underscore the importance of vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable children.
His case remains a stark reminder of the dangers posed by online predators and the need for continued efforts to safeguard young people from exploitation and abuse.
