Peter Dunbar

Edgbaston Bridgehouse Gate Sexual Abuser

January 2014 Retired teacher Peter Dunbar given suspended sentence for abuse A retired teacher who indecently assaulted boys aged between 10 and 13 at a Birmingham boarding school has been given a suspended prison sentence. Peter Dunbar, 67, of Bridgehouse Gate, North Yorkshire admitted six counts of indecent assault at Blue Coat School in Edgbaston during the 1960s and 1970s. He was given a 20 month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday. He was made to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years. West Midlands Police said Dunbar, who had also worked as a vicar, was arrested from his home in North Yorkshire last March after one of his victims reported him. The vicar, who retired September, 2012 after serving 20 years in Upper Nidderdale, had previously taught at St Aidan’s School and Ashville College. PC Nadia Alazzawi said: “Dunbar’s victims have been haunted by what happened to them for many decades. “I suspect there may be others out there who have suffered at his hands and, if there are, I would urge them to speak to police, because we can take action, regardless of how much time has passed.”
