PETER DAVIS OF BARNARD CASTLE GUILTY OF ASSAULT BY BEATING
A man has been fined more than £500 after being found guilty of assaulting a woman by beating her in County Durham.
Peter Davis, of Back Lane, Bowes, Barnard Castle, was found guilty at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on October 3, 2025, of assaulting a woman by beating her in October last year.
Davis, 61, had pleaded not guilty but was convicted after a trial.
He was fined £562, ordered to pay £150 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £225 surcharge.
The court imposed a collection order for payment, with deductions to be made from Davis’s benefits, and the lump sum must be paid in full within 14 days.
A second charge of assault by beating, relating to an incident occurring on the same date, was dismissed after Davis was found not guilty.
