DUNFERMLINE MAN FOUND GUILTY AFTER DRUGGING WOMAN IN ORDER TO COMMIT HIS SICK SEX ATTACK
In Dunfermline, a man who subjected a younger woman to a degrading sexual assault is now incarcerated.Peter Dale, aged 61, attacked a woman who had no interest in him and was under the influence of alcohol.
During proceedings at the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lord Cubie declared that a prison sentence was unavoidable due to the seriousness of the crime.
The judge stated that the assault was committed solely for Dale’s own sexual gratification, taking advantage of a vulnerable victim.
Dale, from Cherrybank in Dunfermline, faced charges of assault and rape; he was acquitted of rape but convicted of sexual assault—making sexual remarks, partially undressing the woman, and performing a penetrative act.
The victim, 20 at the time, said she was not attracted to Dale and did not wish to be involved in any sexual activity with him.
She explained that she had gone out with relatives and friends to a pub in Dunfermline where Dale, whom she thought was in his mid-60s, was present.
She had not met him previously.
After drinking at the pub, they moved to her relative’s house where she became unwell and went upstairs.
She remembered Dale telling her she looked “good” and that she was “a pretty girl,” comments that made her feel uneasy.
She checked on her sleeping relative, then returned downstairs to finish her drink, describing Dale’s behaviour as “creepy almost.” She recounted feeling discomfort and stated, “He is a much older man.
I am a young girl.
He was making me feel uncomfortable.” She suspected Dale made contact with her knee, and after finishing her drink, she awoke the next morning in a room where Dale was sleeping unclothed.
Feeling scared and confused, she noticed her bra was unclasped and she had no lower clothing on, prompting her to want to leave immediately.
She told her mother about her disheveled state and feeling that she had been interfered with.
Her mother found Dale asleep in the house, only wearing socks, and confronted him about his behaviour, warning he could face police action.
Although Dale had no previous convictions and had not served jail time before, he was on bail during the trial.
The judge ordered his remand in custody, scheduling a background report before sentencing, and emphasized that his actions warranted imprisonment.
