MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A man from Leighton Buzzard, located in Bedfordshire, has been officially branded as a dangerous offender following his conviction for a series of heinous sexual crimes against a minor.Peter Cutler, aged 62, has been sentenced to serve a substantial prison term of 14 years, with an additional seven years on licence, reflecting the severity and nature of his offenses.
Cutler’s criminal activities spanned over a period of five years, during which he sexually abused a child who is now a teenager.
The abuse only came to light when the victim confided in a trusted adult, prompting a joint effort to report the matter to law enforcement authorities.
This collaboration enabled police to work closely with specialist officers trained to handle such sensitive cases, ultimately leading to the arrest of Cutler.
While out on police bail, Cutler made a shocking admission to family members, confessing to having sexually abused a child.
When questioned about his actions, he claimed a lack of awareness, stating that he did not know what he was doing.
This revelation added further complexity to his case and underscored the disturbing nature of his conduct.
Cutler, who resides on Heath Road in Leighton Buzzard, faced a court hearing on Thursday, 18 July.
During the proceedings, he pleaded guilty to a total of 22 charges related to child sexual abuse.
These charges included seven counts of assaulting a child by penetration, six counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child, five counts of sexual assault of a child, two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
Given the gravity of his crimes and his classification as a dangerous offender, the court sentenced him to 14 years in prison.
Additionally, he will be subject to a seven-year extended licence period upon his release, ensuring ongoing supervision and restrictions.
Furthermore, Cutler will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order, which will impose strict conditions on his conduct.
He will also be required to comply with lifelong notification requirements, ensuring that authorities are kept informed of his whereabouts and activities to prevent further harm.
