CHESHIRE MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING BEHAVIOR THAT LED TO TRAGIC TODDLER DEATH
A man named Peter Chilvers, an airline pilot from Northwich in Cheshire, has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for his controlling and coercive behavior towards his partner, Magda Lesicka.Lesicka, a Polish national and former flight attendant, was jailed for 15 years in July after she was convicted of stabbing to death their 23-month-old son, James, in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, in August 2017.
Her sentencing revealed that Chilvers had subjected her to relentless psychological torment during their relationship, which included using or threatening physical violence, forcing her into degrading sexual acts, and isolating her from friends.
During the court proceedings, Judge Patrick Field QC noted that Chilvers’s behavior was that of a selfish, entitled bully with no remorse.
Despite being cleared of two allegations of rape and one count of assault by penetration, the court was satisfied that his controlling behavior was sexual in nature, with evidence indicating he treated Lesicka as his sexual property and forced her into compliance.
The court questioned Chilvers’s character as his friends and character references depicted him as supportive and cooperative.
Outside the court, police officer DCI Richard Eales emphasized the importance of support for victims of domestic abuse after this heartbreaking case, which was ultimately about justice for the young victim, James.
