DRUNK GRANDAD GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AT FESTIVAL, FACES FIVE YEAR REGISTER
A man named Peter Brown, aged 47 from Blairgowrie, was involved in a serious incident at the Rewind Festival held at Scone Palace on July 21 of the previous year.
He drunkenly assaulted a woman by groping her thigh and behaved in an inappropriate manner towards another woman by flicking his tongue at her repeatedly.
Witnesses reported that he displayed aggressive behaviour towards the women, which resulted in him being detained by police.
The court was informed that Brown had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol during the event, enough to require medical assistance, and he was assisted to the medical tent for evaluation.
Brown's solicitor described the incident as out of character and a one-off event, and requested a six-month community payback order to minimize the duration of his mandatory sex offender register period, which is set to be five years.
The court imposed a £1,000 fine on Brown to be paid at a rate of £25 weekly, and confirmed that he would be on the sex offenders register for five years.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis emphasized that the behaviour was totally inappropriate and highlighted the importance of responsible conduct, especially for someone of Brown's age.
